Real-time virtual EV simulation for automated ECU HIL validation
Speedgoat will showcase a next-generation hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) workflow for validating EV powertrain ECUs using a real-time virtual electric vehicle before physical prototypes are available. Running on a Speedgoat real-time target machine, the demo combines high-fidelity digital twins of traction motors, power electronics and battery systems with deterministic real-time simulation and automated testing workflows.
Multidomain plant models reproduce electrical and thermal behavior in real operating conditions while interfacing directly with ECUs through realistic automotive networks and I/O connectivity. Engineers can validate motor control units, onboard chargers and battery management systems at the component and full-vehicle levels with repeatable, traceable results.
The demonstration will also highlight automated requirements-based testing and continuous validation in CI workflows, enabling teams to detect issues earlier and accelerate software release cycles.
Built on one unified Speedgoat and MathWorks workflow, the solution supports the complete development chain, from desktop simulation and virtual vehicle modeling to automated HIL testing and continuous integration. Although it will be demonstrated on an EV powertrain application, the same approach scales to ADAS/AD, chassis and body electronics development.
