Sustainable tire testing system
ZF Test Systems is setting a new benchmark with the RB5 road belt tester, addressing the rapidly growing importance of virtual tire development. Designed to perform all state-of-the-art force and moment tests, the RB5 goes even further by introducing a groundbreaking concept that raises testing standards significantly.
What truly sets the RB5 apart is its sustainable design. Operating entirely without hydraulics, it relies solely on electric power, making it both environmentally friendly and cost-efficient. With an average energy consumption of just 7kW, it uses about as much power as a small electric car in urban driving.
Another standout feature is its innovative axle concept. Unlike traditional tire test benches, which don’t accurately represent modern vehicle axles, the RB5 can simulate a full range of axle configurations. This enables highly precise measurements and realistic test conditions.
Additional advantages include automated determination of the wheel center plane by inputting rim offset and adapter thickness, as well as full control of all six degrees of freedom in hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) applications, mirroring real driving conditions with exceptional accuracy.
In short, the ZF RB5 combines cutting-edge performance with sustainability, redefining the future of tire testing.
